Amber Mayfield Hewett is the founder of To Be Hosted, the creator of While Entertaining on Substack, and author of the highly anticipated book, Your Turn to Host.
In 2015, Amber began her career in the esteemed Page Program at NBCUniversal. After, Amber joined the digital team as an assistant at Bravo TV where she supported the digital editorial team with research, authored her first articles for Bravo TV’s Daily Dish, and helped capture your favorite Real Housewives on Snapchat.
During Amber's time at Bravo TV, she fell in love with the storytelling that surrounds the NYC restaurant scene. The synergy between food culture and events encouraged Amber to launch a small supper club called To Be Hosted in 2017. Offering one of a kind dining experiences, To Be Hosted would go on to foster deeper conversations and connections among the tastemakers of NYC. After nearly 9 years, To Be Hosted has grown to provide event production services to an elite clientele including brands like Pinterest, Spotify, Peloton, and Pepsi.
In 2018, Amber became the first project manager and later the first operations director for CultureCon, working alongside founder Imani Ellis for five years to shape and maintain the systems that helped scale this event from 500 people to 5000+.
In 2020, Amber began expanding her event media ecosystem with While Entertaining – an indie print magazine turned Substack where she shares stories and tips from her world of party planning. On social media, her series Soirée School shares how-tos to help others plan and host like a professional at home. In 2023, Amber signed her first publishing deal. Her debut party planning book will hit shelves on June 2026.
