About Amber

Amber Mayfield Hewett is the founder of To Be Hosted, the creator of While Entertaining on Substack, and a soon-to-be author.

Amber began her career in the esteemed Page Program at NBCUniversal, where she supported live studio operations and events for the Today Show, the Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, USA Network and more. In 2016, Amber joined the digital team as an assistant at Bravo TV.

During Amber's time at Bravo TV, she fell in love with the storytelling that surrounds the NYC restaurant scene. The synergy between food culture and events encouraged her to launch To Be Hosted in 2017 as a small, invite only supper club. Offering one of a kind dining experiences, To Be Hosted would go on to foster deeper conversations and connections among tastemakers, industry professionals and the foodies of NYC. After nearly 8 years, To Be Hosted has grown to provide event production services to an elite clientele including brands like Netflix, Pinterest, Spotify, Peloton, OpenTable and Pepsi.

In 2020, Amber began expanding her event media ecosystem. First, with While Entertaining – an indie print magazine turned Substack where she shares stories, recipes, and tips from her world of party planning and events. Then, with her social media series Soirée School which shares how-tos to help others plan and host like the professionals at home.

In 2023, Amber signed her first publishing deal with Artisan to author her debut party planning guidebook coming in June 2026.
